"Wabasso Tackle Shop" Wabasso Florida
The Wabasso Tackle Shop sits on the corner of US1 and Route 510. It is a symbol of days gone by. The day I stopped to take this picture the parking lot was empty but most days it is full of fisherman purchasing what they need for a day of fishing. You pass this shop on your way to the spectacular Wabasso Bridge over to Orchid Island and then on to the Sebastian Inlet. You always see people fishing along Route 510 and under the bridges. Enjoy a look at Old Florida. This will not be around for much longer.

Don't you just hate to see the old businesses go? So many on the Island I grew up on have been replaced with bigger and better...it's sad.
Hi Cynthia,
I will post pictures of the side of the store as it has a huge fish on it. I like having it around because it is real!!! Thank you for stopping by to comment.
Hi Denise,
Your welcome!! Does your husband fish?? It is just a great old building and I enjoy seeing it, I always take a good long look as I pass it. Thank you for stopping by to comment.
Hi Nathan,
Thank you. I see that you are into waterfront homes with docks. We have an endless variety of places with private docks and community docks here. We have the Intracoastal and the Indian River Lagoon with coves and canals, it is pretty impressive. Thank you for stopping by to comment, I appreciate it.
Hi Cindy,
You are so right!! I hope this one can be saved. Thank you for stopping by to comment.
Hi Mark,
I love the drive throught all the small beach communities. You can always find a one-of-a-kind snack shop/restaurant, mingle with the locals and just enjoy the scenery. Thank you for stopping by to comment.
Now I need to come down and do a fishing trip!
Your Friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Hi Charles,
The fishing is great down here!!! So many choices, so little time :-). I see a lot of Virginia license plates down here, I will have to start inquiring what area they come from. Maybe we could do some business!
Thank you for stopping by to comment.
Hi Barbara Jo & Bill,
Up in Sebastian they have some great and colorful places!! Restaurants and shops, etc. It still resembles a fishing village. Have you been up to Sebastian?? Thank you for stopping by to comment.
Hi Denise,
If you are in the area please give me a call, we could meet for a drink. Thanks.
Hi Barbara:
I saw that tackle shop when I was in Sebastian at the end of Feb 2010. Are they tearing it down?
Why? The building really has a lot of character.
Is is historic? Maybe it could be preserved?
